2019 Updates for Coding and Documentation in Psychiatry


Psychiatrists and psychologists who do psychological and neuropsychological testing services will have to implement the new changes in the codes given. The revised CPT codes are mandatory to be implemented in the testing otherwise it will come under non-compliance with HIPAA. The codes are changed annually by the American Medical Association (AMA).

The CPT codes changed by the association are done in order to improve the evaluation services from those of testing and administration services. The alteration in the codes is done to simplify the multiple hours of technical and professional supervision in a hospital.
